FuelFWD is a spin-out from Docklab which is a Port of Rotterdam backed venture studio. Docklab develops breakthrough solutions and turns them into viable ventures by leveraging emerging technologies into collaborative business models. The purpose is to grow these ventures into mature companies which enhance the energy transition and transform global supply chains.

The FuelFWD digital platform solution was inspired by an earlier solution for traceability and transparency of coffee bean supply chains. Using expert insights into the renewable fuel industry coming from leading international energy companies, the Erasmus Trade and Commodity Center, the Port of Rotterdam, HyXchange and Platform Renewable Fuels, a unique and specialized solution has been created, providing traceability and transparency of ESG data in renewable fuel supply chains through a digital batch Passport.

FuelFWD B.V. was incorporated Spring 2023 by Docklab Ventures B.V. and has its offices in Rotterdam. Fall 2023 the current Managing Director and Product Director stepped into the venture with the PD being involved since the early phase of development of the platform as product owner. In Q1 2024 the team has been extended with an experienced Tech Lead to lead the software engineers at our outsource partners in NL and India and drive the technological development roadmap of the platform.

Biofuel Expert

FuelFWD wants to strengthen its team with an experienced biofuel industry expert to infuse the company with knowledge and deep insights into the manufacturing and trading operations at our target customers: biofuel producers, processors, traders and distributors. 

In strong collaboration with the Product Director, the Tech Lead and the Managing Director, we expect this person to support and help steer the development and improvement of our value proposition and strategy. They act as a knowledgeable interface between customers and the proposition team to ensure the functional requirements align with the business reality of customers.  

We also need them to bring a valuable network of potential partners and customers which can be activated and leveraged for FuelFWD. When business develops and the commercial team is expanded, the expert is ‘the consultant’ in our consultive selling approach, supporting the sales team.
Last but not least, the expert should be on the forefront of industry and regulatory developments in biofuels, to attend events and conference and act as a FuelFWD representative. His or her insights feeds the consultative selling activities and content development (posts, articles..) which our marketing strategy is based on.  

The ideal candidate

The team member we are looking for has the following experience and background:

• Preferably 10 but at least 5 years of experience in the (bio)fuels industry at a producer, processor, trader or distributor;
• In a commercial role (e.g. trader, sourcing, sales) or in operations close to execution of buying/selling of biofuels (e.g. compliance, supply chain);
• Big plus is a thorough understanding of the regulatory landscape in Europe and the implications of various voluntary schemes for biofuels (e.g. ISCC, REDcert);
• A candidate can also have a strong background in consulting (e.g. ESG consultancy, Energy supply chain consulting). However, having operational knowledge and understanding of processes at our target customers is then key;
